Box 2110

At 0926 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 and Medic 94 (SCCEMS) was alerted for a reported MVC involving a Train on Reedville Road at the tracks in Lower Oxford Township. Reports to 911 stated a pickup truck had hit a train and that the driver was unable get out of the truck.

Ambulance 21-1 responded and the Chester County Fireboard advised them that an additional 911 call stated that the driver was out of the truck.

Chief 21 (Terry) arrived and confirmed entrapment, placed a helicopter on standby and established the "Reedville Command".

The Ambulance arrived and staged short of the scene to allow room for the Rescue. The crew then began patient care.

Rescue 21 (Captain PW Slauch) arrived and pulled into the scene. The crew stablized the truck using cribbing and struts. The patient was then removed from the passenger side door.

Engine 21-1 (FF Stewart) arrived and established a landing zone for the helicopter. The flight was confirmed and SkyCare1 was dispatched.

Once the patient was loaded, Skycare1 transported to the Christiana Hospital in Delaware.

There was no significant damage done to the train and nothing was found to be leaking from any of the cars.

The scene was turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police and the final units were clear at 1100 hours.

Units: Engine 21-1, Engine 21-3, Rescue 21, Chief 21, Ambulance 21-1

Mutual Aid: Medic 94-1 and SkyCare1
