At 1527 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1, along with Medic 94 (SCCEMS), was alerted for a reported Motor Vehicle Crash with possible subjects trapped in the 200 block of Country Drive in the Country Meadows section of East Nottingham Township. Multiple reports to 911 stated one vehicle had overturned and that there were multiple injuries.
Chief 21 (Terry) arrived and confirmed a vehicle on it's roof with one patient still inside and updated the location to be on Forge Road at the entrance to Country Drive.
Ambulance 21-3 arrived and staged on Country Drive. The crew began patient triage. They advised Chief 21 that four Ambulances would be needed for the five patients involved. That information was relayed to the Chester County Fireboard and Chief 21 established the "Forge Road Command". This re-alerted Station 21 for an additional ambulance, and ambulances from Rising Sun (8/18/28), Wakefield EMS (5-13) and West Grove (12/22).
Rescue 21 arrived just as the EMS crew pulled the subject from the car. The crew then assisted with additional patient care and packaging. Engine 21-4 entered the scene from the west on Forge Road and positioned to block traffic. The crew went into the scene and assisted with patient care.
Ambulance 21-3 transported two patients with Medic 94-4 and Ambulance 21-1 transported one patient with Medic 94-2 to the Christiana Hospital in Delaware. Ambulance 22-3 and Ambulance 5-13 both obtained a patient refusal from the other subjects involved.
The Rescue and Engine crews then secured all hazards.
The incident was then turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police.
The final units were clear of the scene at 1615 hours. |
