| While not quite ready to finish this old saying, the current Brush 21 has left us. After 42 years of active and dedicated service to the Union Fire Company No. 1, the 1964 Dodge Power Wagon was loaded onto a flatbed trailer and delivered to it's new home near Cooperstown, New York.
This move now allows the new Brush 21, a 2007 Ford F350, to be moved inside the Firehouse while being completed and fitted for service.
Brush 21 was purchased brand new in 1964. Over the many years of service, the truck responded to numerous multi-alarm brush fires throughout Chester, Lancaster, Cecil, and Harford Counties. In 1968, the truck was rolled while responding to a fire and injured 8 firefighters. In the late 1980's, the truck was severly damaged again when a tree fell onto it while it was parked outside during the company's annual carnival.
The Dodge will be sorely missed by the members and most if not all memories and stories will be good ones! |
