| The Union Fire Company No. 1 provided the Truck Company cover to the Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company of Newark, Delaware during the Delaware State Firemans Conference Parade. Ladder 21 covered the Newark Local from Station 9 located in the middle of town and was joined with Engine 26-1 from Halfway, Maryland and Ambulance 22-2 from West Grove.
The Truck Crew responded to a Fire Alarm on East Main Street within minutes arriving at Station 9. The alarm was determined to be false and the cover companies returned. Shortly thereafter, the crews were alerted for an MVC on South Chapel Street.
The crews arrived to find a two vehicle crash blocking traffic. The crew from Ladder 21 handled the fire located in the engine compartment of one of the vehicles. Once clear, the crews returned to Station 9 were no other incidents were handled.
The Aetna HHL Co. provided all crews with lunch and comfortable furniture for some relaxation, while the University of Delaware provided the entertainment as thousands of college students passed by the station.
Ladder 21 returned to the 1st Due at 1630 hours. |
