Station 8 Box Alarm

On Saturday Morning, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for an Engine, the Ladder and the Tanker to assist the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun (Cecil Station 8) as part of the Working Fire Dispatch on a Barn Fire in the 300 Block of Chrome Rd in the Calvert section of Cecil County, MD.

Chief 8 was the first to arrive, reporting the barn fully involved. Engine 812 laid a supply line in the driveway, as multiple handlines were deployed to begin attacking the fire. Truck 8 backed in the driveway for the master stream to be used to knock down the fire.

Tanker 21 arrived and began supplying water to the first in Engine via the clapper valve at the end of the driveway, along with Tanker 8.

Ladder 21 arrived and staged on Chrome Rd, with the crew reporting directly to the scene to assist with extinguishing the fire and performing overhaul tasks.

Engine 21-2 arrived and was utilized to supply the fire scene once the port a tanks were set up. The responding tankers dumped numerous loads of water into the port a tanks, with Tanker 21 shutting 5 loads for a total of 15,000 gallons.

Fire Police from Station 21 also responded to close down the road on the North side of the incident.

The 21 units operated on the scene for more than 3 hours before returning to Oxford for cleanup.

Special thanks to Lancaster Tanker 45 (Kinzers) for standing by at our Station while we were out.
