At 1647 on Thursday, July 11, 2019, during the height of a summer storm impacting the area, the Union Fire Company along with mutual aside from the West Grove Fire Company, Cochranville Fire Company and the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, were dispatched to a reported house fire in East Nottingham Township.

Engine 21-1 arrived on scene, laying a supply line, to nothing showing and were met by 2 members of the West Grove fire company, that were in the area, who reported a slight haze in the garage.

Crews quickly identified a electric dog fence and low voltage lighting system where struck by lighting. Luckily damage was minimal and the incident was downgraded to 21 units.
