At 0629 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 and Medic 94 (SCCEMS) were alerted for an Auto Accident with a vehicle reported to be on fire with a subject trapped in the northbound lanes of the Route 1 Bypass south of Route 272 in West Nottingham Township.

Assistant 21, Mark Vining, was the first to arrive reporting no entrapment and car fully involved off of the road in a wooded area. He advised that the scene would be located at the off ramp to Route 272 and established the "Route 1 Command".

The Chester County Fireboard alerted the Union Fire Company No. 1 and an Ambulance from the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, Maryland (Stations 8 & 18) for a second crash in the District at the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Wedgewood Road in East Nottingham Township.

Engine 21-4 rerouted to the second call just after their response.

Ambulance 21-3 arrived and immediately began Patient Care on the Patient that had been pulled from the burning car prior to our arrival by passerbys.

Rescue 21 came southbound in the northbound lane from Route 272 and pulled passed the scene. The crew stretched one 1.75" handline and began attacking the fire.

Engine 21-4 confirmed that the second crash was only a property damage accident, cancelled the Ambulance, then continued their response to the first call.

The fire was placed under control at 0646 hours.

Engine 21-4 arrived and assisted with mop-up and repacking the handline.

Ambulance 21-3 and Medic 94-1 transported the Patient to the Christiana Hospital in Delaware.

The final units cleared the scene at 0710 hours.
