At 0451 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1, along with units from West Grove (22), Cochranville (27), and Rising Sun, MD (8), was alerted for a reported Building Fire at the Scott Hyponex plant in the 300 block of Reedville Road in Lower Oxford Township.

Chief 21 (Meadowcroft) arrived to find a Peat Moss "Fluffer" machine on fire to the rear of the building and established the Command.

Engine 21-1 (Captain Kinsey) arrived and laid out a 5" supply line from Reedville Road and pulled to the rear of the building. The crew then stretched a handline and began to attack the fire.

Tanker 21 picked up the 5" line and supplied Engine 21-1.

Additional arriving units staged in the parking lots on either side of Reedville Road and sent their crews into the scene.

After a quick knockdown of the fire, Command scaled back the response to the 21 and 27 units and Ladder 22.

Upon extinguishing the remaining fire, the scene was turned over to the property owners.

The final units were clear of the scene at 0703 hours.
