At 0112 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1, along with the West Grove Fire Company (22), the Cochranville Fire Company (27), and the Quarryville Fire Company (57), was alerted for a reported House on fire in the 200 block of Township Road in the Hayesville section of Lower Oxford Township.

Chief 21 (Prettyman, Jr.) arrived to find smoke showing from a single-story ranch home and established the "Township Road Command".

Engine 21-1 (Captain Poole) arrived and laid out a 5" supply line in the driveway from the road. The crew then stretched an 1.75" handline to the rear of the house and into the basement. The crew located a working fire in the basement with smoke throughout.

Engine 27-2 picked up the supply line at the end of the driveway and prepared to supply the scene with water. The crew reported into the scene and deployed a second handline.

Ladder 21 (Lt. Greene) backed into the driveway. The crew went to the interior to conduct a Primary Search and locating small fire extension into the first floor.

Engine 22-1 took the hydrant at Connor Road and Janes Lane for a water supply.

Additional arriving units staged along Township Road and sent their crews into the scene. These crews assisted with salvage and overhaul until being released by Command.

The Chester County Fire Marshals investigated the incident.

The final units were clear of the scene at 0431 hours.
