At approximately 2pm, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted to assist Station 27 (Cochranville) on a reported barn on fire in the 1800 block of Ewing Road in Upper Oxford Township. Within minutes, the Chester County Fireboard added the First Alarm Tanker Task Force due to multiple calls being received through 911.

Engine 27-2 arrived to find a 40'x60' barn fully involved with extension into a second barn.

Ladder 21 (Lt. Kinsey) arrived and was directed to take a nearby driveway around the farmhouse and position in the back yard in the area of the second barn. The aerial was setup in preparation for master stream operations. The crew threw multiple ground ladders and went to the roof for ventilation and overhaul.

Tanker 21 (Chief Prettyman) arrived and setup the Nurse Tanker Operation with Engine 22 at the intersection of Ewing Road and Forest Manor Road. Arriving Tankers dumped their water into Tanker 21 to supply the scene.

Engine 21-2 (Capt. Kelley) staged on Forest Manor Road. The crew reported to the scene and being sent to the roof to assist the Ladder 21 crew, while Captain 21 was assigned the Manpower Officer.

Ambulance 21-3 established the Rehab Sector in the yard and provided cold drinks for the firefighters.

The incident was placed under control by Command and units were released when they were wrapped up and ready for service.

While units were operating at the fire, Rescue 21, Assistant 21, and Ambulance 21-1, with the assistance of Medic 94-1 (SCCEMS), handled an Motor Vehicle Collision involving a motorcycle on Route 472 west of Street Road in Lower Oxford. One male patient was transported to the Lancaster General Hospital.

Special Thank You to the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, MD (Tanker 8) and the Longwood Fire Company (MICU 25) for transferring into our firehouse during all of this and covering our District. Engine 21-4 also relocated from our Nottingham Station into the Midtown Station.
