At 1642 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 and Medic 94 (SCCEMS) were alerted for a reported Motor Vehicle Collision with two persons trapped at the intersection of Barnsley Road and Route 272 in East Nottingham Township.

Ambulance 21-2 and Assistant 21 (Meadowcroft) arrived and after a quick size-up, confirmed a three vehicle MVC with two trapped in one of the vehicles. Assistant 21 established the "Barnsley Road Command" as Ambulance 21-3 arrived. EMS crews assisted with freeing the Patient via a rapid extrication due to injuries. Command requested a third Ambulance to the scene, thus alerting Cecil County Station 8 (Rising Sun, MD).

Rescue 21 (Past Chief Fowler) arrived and pulled into the scene. The crew stabilized the vehicles before opening up using both Hurst hydraulic tools off of the front bumper. The crew opened the driver's door and removed the driver's seat to gain access to the second Patient. After a time, it was determined to flap the roof to allow for better and safer access. A third hydraulic tool was used to cute the passenger's side of the vehicle.

Once extricated, the Patient was turned over to EMS crew of Ambulance 21-2 and transported to the Christiana Hospital in Delaware. Ambulance 21-3 and Cecil Ambulance 892 also transported the remaining patients to Christiana.

The crew from Rescue 21 secured all hazards and restored the Rescue to service before clearing.

Due to the heat, as the crews were cleaning up, nearby Jim's Market donated cold bottles of water to all personnel. We would like to THANK Jim's Market for their generous donation and to Jacquie Benham for some of the photos.

Command cleared all units from the scene at 1734 hours.
