Seven members of the Union Fire Company #1 participated in live burn training at the West Chester Fire Department Training Center. Union Fire Company #1 was invited by the West Grove Fire Company to participate in their annual "burn day", and staffed Engine 21-2 for the training.

Crews spent the morning running thru 3 different scenarios, utilizing 3 rotating crews (Engine 22, Rescue 12, and Engine 21-2). One crew was in the attack pumper position, the second crew served as a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), while the 3rd crew was in rehab.

The 1st scenario simulated a second floor fire in a 2 story single family home, with entry made thru the front door, the 2nd scenario was a 2st floor fire in a raised 1 story single family home, with entry made via ground ladder, and the 3rd scenario simulated a basement fire in a 2 story single family home. Each crew rotated thru each scenario.

After lunch provided by the West Grove Fire Company, crews used the afternoon to hone the craft of fire attack and hose line advancement.

At the completion of training evolutions crews from Union Fire Co #1 and the West Grove Fire Company worked to clean up the training center.

We were able perform driver training, practice communications, hose line advancement, search techniques, hydraulic ventilation, and much more.

Thank you to the West Grove Fire Company for the invitation and a special thanks to Hoseman 22 (Nash) for providing photos.
