Low Angle Rescue at Camp Tweedale

Rescue Box 2111

At 1336 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted to Camp Tweedale in the 500 block of Bethel Road, Lower Oxford for a injured person. Responding units were advised of an injured hiker down an steep embankment along the shore of the Octoraro Reservoir.

Chief 21 (Prettyman) and Ambulance 21-2 arrived and located the patient on the eastern shoreline in a wooded area of the camp.

Fire Crews moved portable rescue equipment into the staging area and rigged a Stokes basket for low angle rescue to extricate the patient.

The patient was successfully extricated at 1414 hours and transported to the local hospital for treatment.

Final units cleared at 1441 hours.
