On Wednesday morning, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for a Tractor Trailer on fire in the 2300 Block of Baltimore Pike, in East Nottingham Township.

Captain 21a quickly arrived on scene and reported that a Tractor Trailer had come in contact with energized power lines and that the truck was starting to catch fire around the rear wheels of the truck.

Engine 21-2 (with 5) made a quick response from the Midtown Station. The crew stretched a handline, but had to wait on the arrival of PECO before suppression efforts could begin.

Engine 21-1 (with 6), Engine 21-4 and Tanker 21 also responded, as apparatus staged on Baltimore Pike.

Fire Police shut down the road between Barnsley Rd and Twinhouse Rd during the incident.

Once a representative from PECO was able to de-energize the power lines, crews were able to check the truck for extension and extinguish any remaining fire. Fortunately, the majority of the damage was contained to the rear wheel area of the Truck.

All 21 Units were clear around 11:30, only to be alerted to assist the Cochranville Fire Company on an Auto Accident a short time later.
