| Box 2113 At 1239 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for a report Motor Vehicle Crash on West Christine Road (Route 272) between Glen Roy Road and the Lancaster County line in West Nottingham Township. Within minutes, the Chester County Fireboard re-alerted the assignment, adding Cecil County Ambulance 893 (Rising Sun, MD) and Lancaster County Medic 7-7-9 (Susquehanna Valley EMS - Quarryville), after receiving numerous reports of a subject trapped. Engine 21-4 (Lieutenant Paxson) was the first to arrive reporting a fuel truck versus a passenger car with one subject trapped in the car. Two helicopters were then placed on standby. Assistant 21 (Davis) arrived and established the "Christine Road Command". After EMS assessed the patients, it was determined that there was no need for the helicopters. One patient was transported to the Jennersville Regional Hospital by Ambulance 893. The second patient unfortunately did not survive the incident. Rescue 21 (Captain Prettyman) remained on the scene to assist the Pennsylvania State Police with extricating the victim from the car. All units were clear of the scene at 1414 hours. The members of the Union Fire Company No. 1 wish to pass along our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased victim and to everyone that was affected by this tragic event. *** A special THANK YOU to Null's Towing for their assistance at the scene and for the pictures. *** |
