| Over the past few years, the Membership has been brainstorming on possible renovations to the Midtown Station due to the increase of Career Staff and Volunteers expressing interest in sleeping in overnight to staff the apparatus. We realized a while ago that we had outgrown our current living conditions. With both the Fire and EMS call volume increasing each year, the need to have crews on hand at all times is vital to our mission of helping the Community in their time of need. With the recent decommissioning of the Banquet Hall, the project of breaking up that section of the building into several different needs. The final plans were drawn and construction began. The Banquet Hall was converted into an Charting/Work Area for the EMS staff, a Meeting/Training Room for the Members, and fifteen (15) individual Bunk Rooms for use by both the Career Staff and the Volunteers. The bathrooms were enlarged and had showers installed. A new front entrance had replaced the multiple doors that once welcomed guests into our Banquet Hall. The Union Fire Company No. 1 would like to thank the following businesses for their generous donations and assistance with this very large project: RL Prettyman - General Contractor The Union Fire Company No. 1 would also like to thank the Citizens who supported the Fire Company from the inception of the Banquet Hall through Banquets, Bingos, Breakfasts, Dances, Dinners, Parties, Wedding Receptions, and the Carnival. Without your support, we would not have been able to operate on a daily basis. |
