Congratulations to Chief Petty Officer Franks Hersh Jr.

Frank graduated on July 9, 2025, after 21 years of service to the United States Navy. Franks' final day of active service will be July 31, 2025.

Frank joined the Union Fire Company No. 1 in early 2004 as a Probationary member.

In late spring of 2004, he decided to join the United States Navy. On May 4th, 2004, Frank reported to RTC Great Lakes, IL. for recruitment training. After the completion of this training, he reported to Navy Nuclear 'A' school in Charleston, SC. After that he returned to Great Lakes IL. For MM conventional school and graduated February 2005.

During Frank's 21-year tour of duty serving our country, he was detailed to the following ships and countries:

NRD Philadelphia July 2010- November 2013
USS Mesa Verde December 2013- September 2016
USS Mitcsher September 2016- February 2018
NITC Great Lake February 2018- April 2021
USS Gonzalez April 2021- July 2025

San Martin, Brazil, Chile, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, Guam, Philippines, Singapore, England, Scotland, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Djibouti, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Oman, Abu Dahbi, Bahrain, Antigua.

During Frank's tour he met his wife Meg as they were both assigned to the Aircraft Carrier George Washington. Frank and Meg were married on March 6th, 2013, and now have two beautiful children Hannah and Frank lll and reside in Norfolk, Va.

Frank's wife Meg also served our country and was detailed to the following ships and countries:
