Four Acre Brush Fire in Lower Oxford

On November 6th, at 11:44 AM, The Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted to the 900 Block of Street Road in Lower Oxford Township, for a reported Brush Fire. The original caller to the Chester County 911 Center stated there was approximately one quarter acre of brush on fire,spreading into the woods.

Brush 21, Engine 21-2, Engine 21-4, and Tanker 21 responded shortly after dispatch.

Brush 21 arrived on-site and reported a large woods fire, requiring additional resources to respond from Quarryville, Rising Sun, West Grove, and Cochranville.

Crews battled a quickly spreading fire for two hours. The fire burnt approximately four acres of woods, before it could be fully extinguished.

Crews have responded to numerous brush fires across the county over the last 2 weeks. As a reminder to our residents, Chester County remains under an open burn ban through November 25th due to extreme fire risk. No outside burning of any kind is permitted during this time.
