On Saturday, April 22nd, just before 1700 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 300 block of Nottingham Avenue in Oxford Borough for a reported house on fire.
Deputy 21 (Meadowcroft) arrived shortly after dispatch to report a working fire on the ground floor of a residence.
Engine 21-1 (LT. Bennett) arrived as the first due engine, deploying a 5" supply line from South Street to provide water to the incident scene. The crew stretched a 200' hoseline into service to begin fire suppression efforts.
Ladder 21 (Past Chief Kinsey) arrived as the first due special service unit, setting the aerial device to the roof while crew members deployed portable ladders, completed a search of the home for occupants and rescued several pets.
Engine 21-2 (LT. Testa) arrived as the second due engine, connecting to the hydrant and supplying Engine 21-1 with water, while crew members assisted with fire attack.
Units from Rising Sun and West Grove arrived, assisting with remaining assignments and overhaul.
Rescue 27 (Cochranville) and Lancaster County Rescue 57 (Quarryville) operated as the Rapid Intervention Team.
Units cleared the scene around 1900 Hours.
Deputy 21 held the Nottingham Avenue Command.
