On Saturday afternoon, the Union Fire Company No.1 was dispatched for a Lawn Mower and Brush Fire on Franklin Drive in West Nottingham Township.

Responding units were advised of a mower on fire, spreading to a corn field, with Deputy 21 arriving to find vehicles as an exposure.

Engine 21-4, Brush 21 and Tanker 21 responded. While enroute, a second Brush Fire was dispatched in the 100 Block of Barnsley Rd. Engine 4 handled the Franklin Drive call, with other units re-routing to the second call.

The Barnsley Rd call involved a pile of brush that got out of control and spread to trees and other items. Brush 21, the Tanker and Engine 21-2 arrived and protected exposures from the fire spread, with Engine 4 later responding from the first call.

The Union Fire Company No.1 would like to remind everyone to be mindful of dry conditions and wind while burning as we move into spring time.
