Tractor Trailer Accident

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 11, the Union Fire Company No. 1 and Medic 94 were alerted for an overturned Tractor Trailer Accident with Entrapment. The incident occurred on the Route 1 Southbound off ramp to Route 10 in Lower Oxford Township.

Initial reports were of an 18 Wheeler carrying diesel fuel that had turned over and was leaking it's contents.

Rescue 21 (Capt Slauch) made the response with a crew of 5 and began the lengthy extrication process of the driver of the Tractor Trailer.

The Fire Police Task Force was also requested for Traffic Control.

Engine 21-1 (Lt Testa), Engine 21-2 and Keystone Valley Engine 8 also responded.

Crews worked for about 30 minutes to free the driver and EMS transported to a local hospital.

Thank you to Null's Towing and the Chester County HazMat team for the assistance.

Chief 21 (Booth) held the command during the incident.

I want to thank all the men who responded to my husband's accident and the care that they gave him. I especially want to thank the EMT who called me that morning to inform me of the accident. He was very professional and reassuring in his call to me.
