Fire Prevention Visits

October 9th through the 15th 2022 was Fire Prevention week.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape™”, works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.

Today’s homes burn faster than ever. You may have as little as two minutes (or even less time) to safely escape a home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Your ability to get out of a home during a fire depends on early warning from smoke alarms and advance planning.

Union Fire Company Member spent the week visting and hosting groups in and around Oxford.

Engine 21-2 was able to visit Barnsely Academy
Engine 21-1 was able to visit Oxford Preschool, Tommy Tinkers, Little Ducklings, Bright Begginings, Bethany Christian, and Jordan Bank Elementary.
We were also able to host a vist of Cub Scout Pack 213 at our Midtown Station.

During these visits, students discussed escpae plans and what to do in case of an emergency. They were also able to to get up close and personal with a Fire Fighter dressed in full turnout gear, so they know who to look for in case there is an emergency in their homes.
