Cecil Station 8 Box

On Thursday Morning, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for an Engine, Ladder and the Tanker to assist the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun (MD) on a Building Fire in the 200 Block of Joseph Biggs Memorial Highway in Cecil County, MD.

As Station 21 units went enroute, a large column of black smoke could be seen from Route 1, as Command requested the 2nd Alarm and Tanker Task Force be added to the assignment.

Cecil Engine 812 arrived and laid a supply line into the scene, with Truck 8 taking position on the front of the building and Ladder 21 taking the rear. Engine 7 also laid a supply line to be used for additional fire suppression.

Engine 21-4 staged on Biggs Highway and sent their crew to the scene, where they operated a handline and assisted with overhaul to the rear of the building. The Ladder and Engine 21-2 crews worked to cut tin to gain access and assisted with fire suppression. Later in the incident, the Ladder Pipe was used to flow additional water.

The crews from Oxford were in service for nearly 2 hours before being released by Command.

Credit to the multiple photographers who took the pictures of this incident.

Thank you to Lancaster Tanker 45 (Kinzers) for standing by at Station 21 while our units were committed.
