On Saturday afternoon, members of the Union Fire Company No. 1 teamed up with the Oxford Borough Police Department to take on the Avondale Barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police in a Softball Tournament. The games were played on the "Old Gold Field" of the Oxford Athletic Association.

The tournament was held to benefit a young man named Jacob Yoder, who was severely injured in a car crash last fall. In his honor, team members wore red shirts with "Union" on the front and "Yoder" and the number 21 on the back.

The Oxford Community came together to raise funds for his care and recovery through raffles, food sales and donations. Every home run over the fence also came with an added donation- with 5 combined coming from the two teams.

Oxford Borough Mayor Phil Harris was on hand and proclaimed May 22nd as "Jacob Yoder Day" in honor of his work in Honduras, his service in the Army National Guard, invitation to Ranger School and other accomplishments.

The afternoon festivities were enjoyed by all and a huge thank you goes out to those who organized the event, those who participated and everyone who attended.

Thank you to Joe Caulfield for many of the photos below.
