Members Complete Fire 1 Program

Union Fire Company No. 1 members Miranda Kempf and Lupita Nava-Hernandez recently completed the Chester County Department of Emergency Services Firefighter 1 program. Through this 188 hour course, over 10 1/2 weeks, the students earn their Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, "Introduction to the Fire Service (ELIS)", "Fire Ground Support (ELFG)", "Exterior Firefighter (ELEF)" and "Interior Firefighter with Live Fire (ELIF)" certificates. Additional certifications in CPR, First Aid and Hazardous Materials were also earned.

At the graduation ceremony held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Wagontown Fire Company, Lupita was awarded the "Class Cadet award", which is award by peer vote to the cadet whom excels in the class. Lupita is also the Union Fire Company, 2019, Rookie of the year.
