Oxford participates in Christiana Kids Day

On Saturday August 24, 2019, 4 members of the Union Fire Co No. 1 of Oxford participated in the Christiana Fire Company's (Lancaster 52) "kids Camp". The kids camp gives children 5-12 the chance to see what its like to be involved in the fire service, rescue service, and EMS. Numerous fire companies from across Chester and Lancaster County set up various stations for the attendee's to participate in. This years camp was attended by 126 kids, plus numerous volunteers and parents.

The Union Fire Company brought ladder 21 and set the main up as a high anchor point to lift a stokes basket. The participants learned how to properly load and secure a patient in a stokes basket, learned about various rope rescue equipment and learned about 3-1 and 5-1 mechanical advantage systems to aid in lifting the stoke's. Additionally participants learned about other uses of the ladder truck.
