At 1310 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 and Medic 94 (SCCEMS) were alerted for a reported a MVC with a subject trapped on State Road just west of Hickory Hill Road in the Hickory Hill section of Elk Township.
Deputy 21 (Obenchain) and Captain 21a (Slauch) were the first to arrived reporting one vehicle overturned in a field. After a quick size-up, it was determined that a female subject was still inside and could not get out of the vehicle.
Chief 21 (Terry) arrived and established the "State Road Command".
Ambulance 21-2 and Medic 94-1 arrived and pulled west of the scene. They immediately began patient assesment. It was then determined that both of those units would be the only EMS units needed and the others were cancelled.
Rescue 21 pulled into the scene and began to stabilize the vehicle. Engine 21-3 and Utility 21 arrived and assisted with the stabilization. Crews used cribbing and the Junkyard Dog strut system to secure the vehicle in place.
The windshield was removed and the patient was able to be extricated through that opening.
Once removed, the patient was packaged and transported to the Jennersville Regional Hospital with only minor injuries.
The final units were clear of the scene at 1454 hours.
