The Union Fire Company No. 1 regretfully announces the passing of Past Chief Joseph H. Poff (1967-1968).

1929 -2016
Joseph Henry Poff, 87, of Oxford, PA passed away at his home on Novenber 17, 2016. He was the husband of Edith Dunfee Poff. Born in West Grove, PA he was the son of the late Noah B. Poff an Bessie V. Steele.
Joe served his country in The United States Army. He was a member of the Union Fire Company #1 in Oxford, PA for over 65 years, was a member of the Oxford Ocklonee Tribe #212 Improved Order of Redmen, the Oxford Masonic Lodge #353, the Oxford Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2666 and the United Methodist Church of Oxford. He was involved in the community as a Fireman, Fire Police and School Crossing Guard.
After retiring from Lukens Steel after 34 years of employment, Joe continued to work as a Tour bus driver with Gregg Bus Company.
Joe was a friend to everyone he meet and enjoyed giving of his time to help others. He was an avid hunter which he enjoyed most at his hunting camp in the mountains. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, watching baseball and football and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Edith, three daughters, Teresa Reitz of Richmond, VA, Cynthia Poff of Oxford, PA, Melody Baker (Shaun) of Donnellon, FL, three grandchildren, Justin, Joseph and Hannah and one great grandson Conner.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey M. Poff.
