Rescue Box 2102

At 2116 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 and Medic 94 (SCCEMS) were alerted for a Motor Vehicle Collision with reported entrapment in the 100 block of Jackson School Road in Lower Oxford Township. Reports stated one vehicle into a tree with one subject trapped inside.

Ambulance 21-2 and Ambulance 21-3 were the first to arrive, confirming the report of one subject heavily trapped.

Assistant 21 (Meadowcroft) arrived and established the "Jackson School Command" and requested a helicopter to fly.

Rescue 21 (Lt. Kinsey) arrived and the crew immediately stabilized the car and began extrication operations.

Engine 21-1 (Capt. Kelley) arrived and the crew assisted with the extrication while the driver established a Landing Zone in the nearby field. The Landing Zone was never utilized as the helicopter aborted the flight due to poor visibility.

All crews worked for over 30 minutes removing all four doors, the roof, and pushing the dash to removed the subject from the car.

Once extrication was completed, the Patient was then transported to the Christiana Hospital in Delaware by Ambulance 21-2 and Medic 94-1.

All units were clear of the incident at 2237 hours.
