The Union Fire Company No. 1, along with neighboring Police, Fire, and EMS departments, was invited for a "Meals For Shields" breakfasted hosted by a area citizens at the Oxford Senior Center.

"While listening to an interview conducted by Paula Warrington on WXCY 103.7 FM with the Trauma Survivors Foundation's CEO Dennis Carradin regarding the Meals for Shields program, Oxford, PA resident, Mike Peak, thought to himself, "what a great idea to have something like that for our First Responders in our area!" And, with a little help from several friends and Oxford Mayor Geoffrey Henry, that is exactly what he did. Mike did not want to wait until next Thanksgiving, the typical big Meals for Shields dinner day, to host his event, so he decided to have a Valentine's Breakfast for all First Responders in the area. Serving around 75 members of the fire, police, and emergency medical services, Mike and his crew were able to get donations from area restaurants and caterers for a wonderful breakfast buffet. Mayor Henry rolled up his sleeves and happily served breakfast potatoes, eggs, and other items to the thankful First Responders. Mike was able to enlist an entire troop of Girl Scouts to help with table clean up and coffee refills."

The Members of the Union Fire Company No. 1 were honored for the gracious outpouring of support and the many "Thank You" comments throughout the morning. We would like to thank Mike Peak, as well as everyone who donated and helped out with this delicious and courteous event.
