Fire Box 2107

At 0037 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1, the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun (8), and the West Grove Fire Company (22) were alerted for the reported house on fire in the 2200 block of Baltimore Pike in the Barnsley section of East Nottingham Township.

Assistant 21 (Terry) arrived with fire showing from the "Bravo" side of a one story residence.

Chief 21 (Kelley) arrived and established the "Baltimore Pike Command".

Engine 21-1 took the "First Due" Engine assignment and pulled passed the scene. The crew stretched one 1.75" handline to the front door. Once inside, they encountered a working fire with smoke throughout the home.

Engine 21-4 took the "Second Due" Engine assignment with the crew stretching a second 1.75" handline as the backup line.

Ladder 21 took the front of the building with the crew throwing ground ladders and assisting with pulling ceilings on the interior.

The crew from Engine 21-2 checked the utilities and assisted with pulling siding from the exterior.

Engine 812 arrived and was given the basement to investigate.

The fire was knocked down fairly quickly and the smoke began to clear with natural ventilation. The primary and secondary searches proved negative.

With those reports, the incident was placed under control and scaled back to the Oxford units.

Crews continued to work on overhaul to open burned area, check for any fire extension, and removed burned items from the house.

The Chester County Fire Marshals Office investigated the incident.

The final units were clear of the scene at 0241 hours.

Engine 25-2 (Longwood) transferred to Station for the duration.
